Northwestern Turkey, present day.
CLAIRE, 46, is a French expat in Turkey. She has just lost custody of her daughter SABRINA, 9, to her Turkish ex-husband, a local celebrity. His lawyer convinced the judges that Anne was emotionally unstable. Refusing this situation, Anne runs away with the child.
She pays a smuggler to discreetly leave the country with her daughter, but instead of taking them to the Bulgarian border as planned, he takes them to a run down house in the middle of a forest. He abandons them there, promising to come back and pick them up. In the following days, mother and daughter are left to their own devices.
They adapt to their new home, and start exploring its surroundings. A city kid, full of imagination and sensibility, Sabrina marvels at her new environment. But the smuggler still doesn't show up, and their provisions are running out.
Their isolation affects Claire. Her anxiety mounts and mounts.
For the first time, she no longer knows if she can trust herself.
